Family Caregivers of BC (FCBC) is a provincial, not-for-profit that proudly and compassionately supports over 1 million people in British Columbia that provide physical and/or emotional care to a family member, friend, or neighbour. FCBC supports caregivers by providing access to information, education and supports that enable caregivers to feel more confident and successful in their important role.
We understand the common feelings of isolation, grief, compassion, joy, and exhaustion faced by many family and friend caregivers. FCBC provides direct support to caregivers through one-on-one emotional support, caregiver support groups, health care system navigation, and free educational resources. Listen to Our New Podcast Episode: How to Use Writing for Healing and Self-Care
We are excited to share many great caregiving stories, reflections and ‘ah ha’ moments with you. Our host, Bill Israel, provides great depth and wisdom to the topic of caregiving.
In our latest Caregiving Out Loud podcast we hear from Rick, who shares his experience caring for both of his parents. Like many caregivers, Rick didn’t expect to be thrown into a caregiving role when he was. Caregiving became a full-time job, and he started to see his own health and wellness decline. Rick turned to writing to help him process his experience and feelings. We hope you enjoy and feel supported by Rick’s point of voice and maybe even consider your own favourite moments of self-care.Learn More
