Share Your Caregiver Story!

March 29, 2022

Caregiver Aware 2022

The month of May marks Family Caregiver Month in BC! Family Caregivers of BC will celebrate this important month with our annual ‘Caregiver Aware’ 2022 campaign.

Throughout the month of May, we want to increase awareness of the important role of family and friend caregivers. As such, we’d love for family caregivers to share your caregiving story with our community. Care recipients are also invited to share their own stories.

Through sharing these stories, you can help the public see the important work of family caregivers and create a sense of connection with other caregivers and care recipients. We’ll publish these stories throughout the month of May on our website and promote them through our eNews and on our social media channels.

Our Ask:

We invite all family and friend caregivers and care recipients to share stories with us. Here are some things you might want to include:

  • Your name
  • The name of the person you’re caring for – or who is caring for you
  • The circumstances – e.g. how you became a family caregiver or care recipient
  • Your experiences in the role
  • Words of wisdom or encouragement for other family caregivers
  • A photo of you with your care recipient or care provider

The word count is up to you. A general guideline is 1,500 words for a blog post or article, but we’re happy to take more words or fewer. The deadline for your submission is ‘As Soon As You’re Able’ – we’ll keep taking and publishing the stories as they come in.
