Considerations for a Move to Residential Care

August 18, 2020

Handout

Making the decision to relocate a parent, spouse or relative from home into residential care (RC) can be one of the most challenging decisions caregivers have to make.

This webinar outlines the findings of The Caregiver Journey project – a two-year research study that explored common experiences for caregivers managing such a move.

Join Denise Cloutier and Taylor Hainstock to learn about the challenges families face when relocating a family member into RC, and key questions caregivers might consider during this transition.

The goal of this presentation is to recognize and reinforce the need for continued investment in caregiver education and support. From the experiences of caregivers, the Family Caregivers of BC (FCBC) community, and other patient advocacy groups, a Caregiver Journey brochure was developed as a meaningful tool or aid to support caregivers involved in moves to residential care.

Knowing what to consider and expect upfront often makes an already difficult decision a bit more manageable.
