The IAA (Intention, Attention, Attitude) Model of Mindfulness

June 30, 2020

Kate Landreth explains the IAA Model of Mindfulness (Intention, Attention, and Attitude) by Dr. Shauna Shapiro – we like this approach to mindfulness because the model depicts a process incorporating intention, awareness and attitude, with each element reinforcing the other two.

Our mind wanders 46.9% of the time, with 12-50,000 thoughts per day. With so many distractions (technology, social media, etc.) being in one place with your mind, body and soul is needed now more than ever. We train and stabilize the mind during mindfulness practice so that we can be in the present moment, just as we are. What we pay attention to GROWS stronger, so paying attention to the things/feelings that uplift and support well-being is so important.
