SUMMARY:Caregivers Connect: Celebration!
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nThe Caregivers Connect Celebration is a spe
cial-edition of our Caregivers Connect support group\, offering caregive

y and accessible mindful chair movement  and creating a time capsule. P
articipants are invited to bring a piece of stationary and an envelope t
o this virtual event.\n\nMindful Movement Class Description\nEvery movem
ent of every day is a dance.  Discover your body’s innate ability to
move as physiotherapist and Continuum dancer\, Shelly Yu\, leads you thr
ough a 20-minute somatic approach to dance. By drawing attention to the
body’s physical sensations and responding through movement\, we will e
xplore the mind-body connection and create dance through thoughts\, emot
ions\, and memories.\n\nAbout Shelly Yu\nShelly Yu is a Neuro Physiother

Health Division. Shelly’s main focus in healthcare is equity and acce
ss to care\, especially for those living with chronic conditions. Outsid
e of her clinical work\, Shelly is a dancer in Continuum\, a modern danc
e company based in the Lower Mainland. She uses dance to find grounding
and mindfulness in her busy life.\n\nJournaling/Time Capsule Exercise\nA
s we care for loved ones\, we become very attuned to their voices. Yet i
n meeting the needs of each day\, we can lose track of the inner voice t
hat is essential to our own well-being\, and our resilience in challengi
ng times. In this journaling exercise\, Pamela L. Alexander will lead yo
u through practices to spark questions within yourself like\, "What do I
need?"\, "What is important to express?"\, and "What would I like to cr
eate in my life?" Through simple self-loving practices in speaking softl
y\, hearing ourselves\, and writing by hand\, we take time to remember t
 he small\, still voice within.\n\nAbout Pamela (PJ) L. Alexander\nSpeake
 r. Writer. Singer. Educator. Sharing practices gathered from 20 years’
  experience in health\, the arts\, entrepreneurship\, spoken word\, sing
