SUMMARY:Caregivers in the Wild Screening and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Throughout May\, National Caregiver Month is celebrated acro
ss Canada to acknowledge and celebrate the 8 million people providing ca
re to a family member\, friend\, neighbor\, or chosen family across the
country. The caregiver role is significant\; caregivers provide over 80
% of unpaid care to those who need it\, reducing the social costs associ
ated with health services\, including long-term care.\n\nFamily Caregive
rs of BC (FCBC) supports caregivers by providing access to information\,
education\, and support that enable caregivers to feel more confident a
nd successful in their role. FCBC works hard to make the invisible careg
iving role visible within our society\, community circles\, and the heal
thcare system.\n\nIn celebration of Caregiver Month\, FCBC is sponsoring
the online screening of Caregivers in the Wild with Dr. Mike Lang. Regi
ster and join our evening event\, where we will watch three short episod
es of caregivers sharing their stories in nature\, and then we will have
caregivers\, Dr. Mike\, and an expert discuss caregiver themes and topi
cs. You will have an opportunity to participate in and share your caregi
ving experience too. FCBC will share supportive resources and informatio
n on the programs we offer to caregivers in British Columbia. Caregivers
in the Wild highlights the unique stories of caregivers\, which contrib
ute to our collective understanding of what it means to care.\n\nThis is
more than just a film screening — it’s an opportunity to hear direc
tly from caregivers\, reflect on your own journey\, and connect with a c
ommunity that understands. You’ll also receive supportive resources an
d learn about the free programs FCBC offers across British Columbia.\n\n
Panelists include:\n\n Dr. Mike Lang – Filmmaker\n Dr. Linda Carlson
  – Caregiver\n Sam Taylor – Caregiver\n Lynne Crabbe – Caregiver
