WEBINAR: More than a Visitor: Care Planning in a Changing Environment

Date: October 28, 2020
Time: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Location: Zoom Pre-Register

Family caregivers are more than visitors; they are an important part of the care team. In this webinar, the Alzheimer Society of B.C. and Family Caregivers of BC will provide caregivers with tools and resources to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence to care in our current changing environment.

What you will learn from this 1-hour webinar:

  • The definition of essential visits and essential visitors
  • Patient rights and Caregivers rights related to visitations
  • Tools and suggestions for strengthening and asserting your caregiver voice to help you gain recognition as a valuable member of the care team
  • The importance of back-up care plans and decision aids when considering care transitions

Family Caregivers of BC goal is to improve the quality of life for unpaid family / friend caregivers. As a provincial non-profit dedicated 100% caregivers, we provide support, information and education – all free thanks to our donors (Island Health, United Way of Greater Victoria and the Ministry of Health). We work closely with health care providers and community-based seniors organizations to ensure caregivers are identified, referred for support, and included as partners in care.

Families across British Columbia are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. The Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s ultimate vision is a world without dementia; that vision begins with a world where people living with the disease are welcomed, acknowledged and included. Working in communities throughout the province, the Society supports, educates and advocates for people with dementia, as well as enabling research into the disease. As part of a national federation, the Society is a leading authority on the disease in Canada.
