A free community event fostering understanding, support and awareness for those living with Parkinson’s.
This event will bring those affected by Parkinson’s disease (PD) together with friends, family, neighbours and the community to share a fun, enriching and stimulating experience. Many physical and cognitive symptoms of PD can be addressed by engaging in a creative process such as painting – wellness through the arts! No painting experience necessary. Everyone welcome (you do not to have Parkinson’s to join us in this communty event).
This event also aims to help bring relief of some of the symptoms of PD. Some people with the disease “hide” out at home so we hope to encourage the participants to feel active and part of the community. Participants will also meet others affected with PD and hopefully make connections and friendships.
Painters will feel proud to produce a work of art to bring home – a 12 x 12 canvas representation of artist Iris Mes-Low “West Coast Wave”.
Please register via Eventbrite.
Organized by Robyn Murrell and Heidi Clarkson, sisters and longtime New West residents.
This event is possible due to a New Westminster Neighbourhood Small Grant and Vancouver Foundation.
