Side by Side Caregiver & Family Support Program
The symposium is sponsored by the Side by Side Caregiver & Family Support Program which is a community outreach program of the Mt. Lehman United Church in Abbotsford. This is a secular symposium that will be of interest to all caregivers looking after a spouse, sibling, or friend, in addition, it is The Keynote Speaker is Dr. Paul Pearce, the Director of the Centre for Healthy Aging Transitions who will speak on factors and guiding values that are commonly identified as helpful for finding the balance between being a caregiver and need to care for our own needs. Sepi Sarbazi is a registered dietician and will speak on healthy eating for caregivers and common foods and their medication interactions. And lastly, Suzanne Taylor a Recreation Therapist and certified “Teepa Positive Aproach to Care trainer will provide an interactive session on how to address challenging situations with individuals with dementia. The symposium cost of $50.00 covers a continental breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch and the guest speakers. Pre-registration is required with a deadline of June 1st.
