Who We Are: Family Caregivers of British Columbia
There are over 1 million people in BC providing 80% of the care for a family member or friend. We’re here to help family caregivers navigate this often exhausting, but also rewarding, role.
Family Caregivers of British Columbia is a registered non-profit dedicated 100% to supporting family caregivers. Most of us have cared for aging, ailing or disabled loved ones and have experienced firsthand the stress, joy, confusion, and feelings of purpose that come with caregiving.
I live in Atlanta, Georgia, have an older sister living in Victoria [BC, Canada] and am extremely grateful for the knowledge I’ve gained through your site. Thank you again for the great work you are doing.” — D.H., long-distance family caregiver.

To improve the quality of life for family caregivers through support, information, and education. We provide leadership to strengthen the voice of family caregivers and the significance of their role.
We began in 1989 as the Family Caregivers’ Network Society, a not-for-profit registered charity dedicated 100% to supporting family caregivers – the first organization of its kind in Canada. In 2010 we took on the provincial champion role after the Caregivers Association of BC closed its doors. We transitioned to our new public name in 2014 to better reflect serving family caregivers across the province. We refreshed our logo and kept the image of a hand, an enduring representation of the care we offer each other.
We are very grateful to our funders.
