FCBC Volunteer Profile: Bill Israel

April 26, 2022

To celebrate National Volunteer Week 2022, we are profiling a new FCBC volunteer each day this week! Today, we feature a Q&A with our exceptional volunteer, Bill Israel.

Name: Bill Israel

Volunteer Role: Podcast Host and Facilitator of Province-wide INTENSIVE JOURNAL program via zoom and in-person

Why I volunteer with FCBC: I am a volunteer family caregiver and I have good credentials and experience in the role.

My personal caregiving experience and/or association is/has been: I have experience in pastoral care as an ordained clergyman, including clinical training as a hospital chaplain and I am a caregiver for my wife.

Upon reflection of your volunteer investment, your favourite part of working with FCBC/family caregivers is:  Facilitating the weekly two-hour INTENSIVE JOURNAL writing workshops for family caregivers.

What would you say to others who may be interested in becoming a FCBC volunteer? The FCBC organization is the best available resource in BC for enabling your caregiving mission and supporting your caregiving role.

Favourite quote/motto or words of wisdom for other caregivers: Death may end a life, but it does not end a relationship. Ira Progoff (1927-98) – Author of the INTENSIVE JOURNAL program.
