B.C. Seniors’ Advocate Isobel Mackenzie has announced the expansion of BC 211 in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
The BC 211 helpline was previously only available in the lower mainland and Vancouver Island but is now available across the province.
BC 211 will be working to match seniors in need with volunteers who can assist in helping with tasks such as getting groceries, medication and staying connected. Seniors and their caregivers can go to www.bc211.ca or call the BC 211 helpline to access these services.
This service will help keep those most at risk from being exposed.
Those who can offer help with these tasks and would like to volunteer, or want to keep seniors company with virtual visits, can do so through the 211 helpline or through the BC211 website.
