This webinar explores family engagement and empowerment throughout the critical care journey—from hospital admission through recovery after critical illness—using a provincial lens.
Drawing on Critical Care BC guidance, including the ICU Liberation Family Engagement & Empowerment Element and the Recovery After Critical Illness guide, the session highlights how families and caregivers can be active partners in care to improve patient experience, safety, and outcomes.
Participants will learn practical strategies for communicating with and supporting families, understand common challenges experienced during and after critical illness, and explore ongoing work across BC to strengthen family-centered care.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Engage families as partners throughout critical care and recovery
- Apply practical communication strategies that empower caregivers
- Support patients and families during post-ICU transitions
